DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Adds Muslim Character ‘Isis’ as Rebuke to Trump

We hear it all the time from the media, politicians, and the entertainment industry. Islam is a religion of peace, and terrorist attacks have nothing to do with Islam. In fact, we’re told this so much that #NothingToDoWithIslam is often a trending Twitter hashtag after terrorist attacks.

Murderous groups like ISIS who rape, torture, and mutilate people especially have nothing to do with Islam, they say; and yet, the producers of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” decided to add a Muslim character to their series – named Isis!

It sounds like fake news, right? It’s not. The DC character Isis has existed for years, not as a Muslim, but as a woman who draws power from an Egyptian amulet. The television show’s producers, however, in an attempt to rebuke President Trump, thought it would be a great idea to turn this character into a Muslim.

“You might have heard there was this election. Not to get political, but something that we all gravitated toward in the writers room was making this character Muslim,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim said.

Guggenheim’s sister-in-law inspired the idea. “She was talking about how difficult it is to be a Muslim-American in the current political climate. Having a character who’s a computer hacker and is from the future, but also happens to be Muslim, it’s a nice, important aspect of her character,” Guggenheim said.

Though many leftists, social justice warriors, and opponents of President Trump insist that the terrorist group ISIS has nothing to do with Islam, it’s interesting that the producers of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” when presented with a character named Isis, immediately thought that character should become a Muslim.

In addition to Isis, the writers would also like to add another female hero to the cast.

“There weren’t enough women quite frankly,” Guggenheim said. “It’s something we were looking to address.”
