Florida School Shooter Nikolas Cruz Taken Into Custody After Killing 17 People

Nikolas Cruz has been identified as the suspect in the Lakeland, Florida shooting that left 17 dead, and 15 injured. Cruz murdered his victims inside the school, as well as just outside on a road nearby. Victims were students and adults.

Cruz had at least one A-15 rifle and several magazines with him. He reportedly wore a gas mask and had smoke grenades, setting off the fire alarm to get students into the hallways. The shooting was reported around 2 p.m. The Coconut Creek Police Department in Coral Springs took Cruz into custody by 4 p.m.

“Responding deputies were met with hundreds of students fleeing the school. Investigators later learned that the shooter had concealed himself in the crowd and was among those running out of the school,” the Broward Sheriff’s office said.

Since Cruz exhibited labored breathing, he was transported to the hospital first, then later to jail. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

According to Heavy, YouTuber “BentheBondsman” said the FBI visited him because a Nikolas Cruz commented on one of his videos in September. “Im going to be a professional school shooter” Cruz said. BentheBondsman reported the comment to Youtube and also submitted it to the FBI. He said two agents visited him in September about the post, and again after the shooting.

Heavy also reported a youth named Oli tweeted: “I knew the kid who shot up the school he had a ton of mental health issues that just got ignored by all the adults. He literally had an Instagram where he posted pictures of animals he killed gruesomely and he physically assaulted one of my friends once.”

Hoaxes are already circulating the internet regarding the political affiliation, motive, and identity of the shooter. We will report more as facts emerge.
