Islamic Terror in Manhattan – What We Know

On Halloween in Manhattan, eight people were murdered and 15 injured in a terrorist attack near the World Trade Center. The suspect, Sayfullo Saipov, is accused of driving over innocent people with a pickup truck along a bike path before slamming into a school bus. Saipov was shot in the abdomen by police after he jumped out of the truck waving what turned out to be a fake gun in each hand. Witnesses said he shouted “Allahu Akbar!”

According to law enforcement sources, Saipov left a note claiming he committed this terrorism on behalf of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

Saipov is originally from Uzbekistan, and came to the USA in 2010 through a diversity visa lottery, a program which gives out 50,000 visas a year from a multitude of countries, including those with known terrorist problems, Breitbart reported.

Saipov is registered as an Uber driver. He passed a background check, has a wife and two children, and is described by friend Kobiljon Matkarovone as a very good guy who is friendly, like a little brother. “My kids like him too,” Matkarov reportedly said. “He is always playing with them. He is playing all the time.”

According to Heavy, online databases show Saipov has ties to multiple other states, with several minor traffic offenses. He also has registered businesses in Ohio, Sayf Motors Inc. in Hamilton County, and Bright Auto LLC in Cuyahoga Falls.

President Trump gave his thoughts, condolences and prayers to the victims and families of the New York City after the  attack, saying “God and your country are with you!”

Saipov was reportedly taken to Bellevue Hospital, and is  currently in police custody.
