James Peter Gildea, 23, received an 18-month suspended sentence at Preston Crown Court for filming a six-year-old boy in the toilets of a Lancashire pub, and downloading indecent images of children from the dark web.
Gildea targeted the boy last July at a restroom at Fairhaven Lake in Lytham where the child was visiting with his family, according to Tom Earnshaw of the Blackpool Gazette,.
In addition to the suspended sentence Gildea received an order to do 25 days of rehabilitation, and 250 hours of community service. He has been given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on a sex offenders register.
“The case was adjourned in April for sentencing after former Cardinal Newman College student Gildea admitted six sexual offences at Preston Crown Court for voyeurism, taking indecent photographers, three counts of making indecent images, and possessing an extreme image involving a horse,” Earnshaw said.
Reportedly, the parents of the victim praised the police for their help. The child’s mother said the pain they had gone through was “difficult to put it into words.”
