After Mayor Sadiq Khan’s office granted far left activists permission to fly a giant Trump baby balloon over London (described as an “obscene mutant clone of the president”) during the President’s UK visit, a man named Yanny Bruere decided giant Baby Khan should also fly, and started a crowdfund to do it.
“In light of the Donald Trump ‘Baby Trump’ balloon being allowed to fly over London during his visit to the UK, let’s get a ‘baby Khan’ one and see if FREE SPEECH applies to all and whether or not Mr Khan and the London assembly will also approve this,” Bruere said. “Under Sadiq Khan, we have seen crime sky rocket to unprecedented levels. People in London don’t feel safe and they aren’t safe; 81 murders this year alone! Khan Out.”
Sky News reported that the “activists” flying the Trump balloon will be “liaising with the Met and the Civil Aviation Authority” to make sure airspace is safe that day.
“We didn’t get off to the best start with the Mayor’s office over this, who originally told us that they didn’t recognise Trump Baby as legitimate protest,” Leo Murray told Sky. “But following a huge groundswell of public support for our plan, it looks like City Hall has rediscovered its sense of humour. Trump Baby will fly!”
“We are just a small group of friends who set out to show that fascists are not welcome in the UK,” Nona Hurkmans, the group’s spokeperson said.
Those supporting Baby Khan had a different view.
“Sadiq Khan is an embarrassment to London, and the wider UK,” Russell Carey said. “If he feels the need to humiliate President Trump, he himself should be treated in the same regard.”
